Ian leads the company, architecture, and operations. He brings his experience building software and platforms to the work they are doing together.

Our story

Built from lived experience.

UniquelyND was started by Erica and Ian Hayes, a daughter and father who came to this problem from different perspectives.

Erica, Cofounder and Chief Designer, was diagnosed with AuDHD as an adult. Her lived experience with Response Anxiety and years spent working around unclear communication shape how LINA speaks to a reader.

Ian, Cofounder and CEO, brings more than 20 years of software development experience. He watched his daughter navigate a world that did not accommodate how she thinks, and builds the systems to help organizations change their communications.

I'm not designing for a persona. I'm designing for the version of me who needed this and didn't have it.

What we believe

AI should mean
Assistive Intelligence.

We believe AI should be used for good. It should remove barriers, widen access to knowledge, and help people make informed choices.

That means technology that respects people, supports their judgment, and gives them more control. It means being honest about its limits.

At UniquelyND, we put that belief into practice through LINA. We build tools that give everyone the same footing in communication.

Support the person.
Examine the barriers.

Ask LINA and LINA Lens approach communication from different sides. One helps a reader explore a message. The other helps the organization creating it examine what could be clearer.

We still have work to do.

Our products are being developed and evaluated. Lived experience gives us a starting point; feedback and evidence help us understand what is useful and what needs to change.
